Caregiver Support Group Program |

For several years Misty Mountain provided counseling and support groups for seniors and their families at nursing home facilities. We believe that aging and caregiver issues are another serious issue that couples will face in the 21st century. People are living longer and families often have to make the decision whether a senior can be cared for in the home. Often the caregiver becomes the spouse or another family member such as the children. The added stress can also challenge a couple’s relationship and it is during these times that families need help. For this reason Misty Mountain has teamed up with Washington County’s Department of Disability and Aging to provide caregiver support groups at multiple care facilities and nursing homes throughout the county. In addition to the support groups, each caregiver is screened for depression and issues such as self care and stress. Individual counseling is provided when needed to help caregivers when going through crisis situations. |
