Misty Mountain currently provides Marriage Counseling out of our Oregon office. Part of Misty Mountain’s mission is divorce prevention. We realize that couples are faced with multiple challenges in the 21st century.  The divorce rate for first time marriages continues to be about 50% , with second marriages at about 60%.  Additional challenges include: addictions of all kinds, abuse, infidelity, mental health issues, blended families, parenting issues, inability to bond etc. The list can go on and on.

At Misty Mountain we have two foundational beliefs about marriage.  These include:

Couples can learn the skills they need not only to survive but to thrive in their relationship and marriage.  

 

 

 

As a result Misty Mountain provides couples with professional programs that teach relationship skills. Misty Mountain is certified to teach using the PREP and Christian PREP program, Prepare/Enrich, Couple Communication, Personality Assessments such as the Myers Briggs etc.  In addition, couples counseling is provided from a Family Systems Framework, while integrating other theoretical models to fit the individual and couple’s need. 

Marriages can be restored with proper counseling and the power of forgiveness that can only come from God.

 

 

 

Misty Mountain works with couples that are often on the verge of divorce for various reasons that include deception, infidelity, addiction, etc. At times individuals need their own counseling before their marriage can be worked on.  But as couples work through these stages of recovery and restoration, often couples find a renewed sense of hope. Additionally as they build on their relationship to God, the power of forgiveness and a new beginning in their marriage can be achieved. The marriage can be saved and often times children are spared the pain of what divorce would mean to them. 

We believe that any relationship education program must include a forgiveness component. In order for a couple to be able to work on skills to build their marriage, they have to be good at understanding forgiveness.
