Individual, Premarital and Marriage Counseling in Portland, Oregon. In addition, Christian Counseling to address the difficult issues individuals, couples and families face in the 21st Century.

Misty Mountain provides individual counseling for a variety of issues ranging from Short Term Crisis Intervention to Goal Focused Short and Long Term One-On-One Therapy. In most cases individual therapy is the most effective way of affecting change and growth. It is completely private and discrete and enables you to delve deeply into yourself. The focus is on you and your life.

The relationship between yourself and the therapist develops as time goes on. Patterns and ways of behaving emerge that often reflect on the relationships you have in the outside world.

Individual therapy is rich in that it lends itself to self discovery in ways that will unfold as time progresses. The process is magical in that the therapeutic relationship is a journey that leads to paths of healing, growth and life change. Misty Mountain believes that in that journey the        Holy Spirit is present in the relationship between client and therapist.

We believe it is important for therapists to practice from a solid theoretical background, but we also believe that a trusting relationship with a therapist who demonstrates a “Christ Like” attitude is most important. Grace, acceptance, empathy, genuineness and feeling heard, all become healing agents for the client who needs Jesus' hands extended to the hurting places within.

During your first session the therapist will meet with you to go over paperwork and assess your presenting problems and needs. The therapist will determine the type of counseling that will best meet your specific need. Usually by the second session a treatment plan is developed which will outline the specific goals for counseling. You will be asked to be part of developing that treatment plan. Throughout your time in counseling, the therapist will be checking in with you to see what is working or not working. Occasionally other forms of counseling, such as group counseling, will be recommended to help in the change process. Misty Mountain will also work closely with your primary care physician to coordinate issues of medication when needed.
